Edna C. Groves, M.S., Biography

Edna C. Groves is the founder of Words That Endure®, Naperville, Illinois, a firm offering guidance in the writing of personal life stories. As a personal biographer, she assists individuals privately through a series of interviews capturing key elements of their lives, which she then transcribes for them into print. Additionally, she creates and leads workshops and retreats, offers brief programs, and is available as an in-service trainer, and keynote speaker.

Edna received an M.S. in Counseling Psychology in 1975, and was a psychotherapist for 22 years, working with individuals and couples. Since the mid-1970's she has also worked as a workshop facilitator, retreat leader, and speaker. She is a Nationally Certified Facilitator of Life–Legacies Circles™, a member of the Sage-ing® Guild, and of the Association of Personal Historians. Her articles have been published in numerous newsletters, and her essay, “Finding Home,” was published in the anthology Our Turn, Our Time: Women Truly Coming of Age.

In addition to her work as a professional woman, Edna Groves is also wife, mother, grandmother, friend, dog-lover, life-long learner, and woman of heart. Her greatest joy at this time in her life, besides following her grandchildren's exploits, is to capture stories—her own and those of others.

Edna has a passion for and belief in the importance of a written legacy to men and women and their descendants. Her love of writing and her finely-honed ability to offer writing tools, encouragement, and a safe and stimulating climate in which others may communicate their values, wisdom, and blessings all contribute to the effectiveness of her mission.

Professional woman, wife, mother, grandmother and life-long learner, Edna is grateful for many mentors: Christina Baldwin and Ann Linnea, of PeerSpirit, who are authors, presenters, and visionaries; Rachael Freed, author of Women's Lives, Women's Legacies; those in the Sage-ing® Guild through whom she became a Certified Sage-ing® Leader in 2004; and countless others whose wisdom continue to lead her to her own.
